Our extended school day and programs help students discover their talents and passions by participating in mentorship and internship programs and experiencing field trips, band, dance, robotics, sports and other activities.
Year-Round Enrichment
Through our partnership with Horizons Atlanta, we provide free summer programming for approximately 250 elementary school, middle school and special education students. The programs provide a balance of academics,
enrichment, recreational sports and confidence-building activities.
Leveling the Playing Field
Our robust college and career readiness program and enrichment opportunities are designed to narrow the opportunity gap, thus giving students the same exposure and experiences for career advancement and income earning potential.

Horizons PBSA Takes Flight: Launching Full STEAM into Learning
Everyone’s favorite summer session returned this year thanks to Horizons Atlanta. Serving 270 students ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade, this annual educational experience caters to the diverse needs and interests of PBSA’s young scholars, ensuring both academic growth and personal development throughout the summer.
Food Coop Opens at Slater
Urban Recipe Cooperative has launched a food co-op at Slater Elementary School. The co-op meets bi-weekly and families from all PBSA schools are invited to join.
Purpose Built Schools Leads Effort to Keep Kids in School
A group of stakeholders, organized by Purpose Built Schools Atlanta, is working swiftly to do something extraordinary: Temporarily relocate 260+ low-income families in a coordinated manner so that their children can continue to attend their current neighborhood schools while a dilapidated housing development is rebuilt.
Purpose Built Schools Atlanta and Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta launch first-of-its-kind partnership
Last fall, Purpose Built Schools Atlanta partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta to provide a “learning pod” for approximately 70 students who were identified as having the potential to benefit from additional learning resources in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The club is serving as a distance-learning hub where students of all grade levels can come during the school day to do online classes.
