After an intensive search, Purpose Built Schools Atlanta is thrilled to announce that Niomi Henry has been named principal at Carver STEAM Academy beginning the 2024-25 school year.
Ms. Henry brings more than two decades of extensive educational and leadership experience, including as a vice principal, school effectiveness specialist, instructional coach, and teacher. Previously, she served as assistant principal at Carver STEAM Academy where she played a critical role in the school’s academic achievement during her six-year tenure. Her contributions were instrumental in the removal of Carver STEAM Academy from all Georgia Department of Education school improvement lists in 2023.
Her expertise in leading change for turnaround schools was further honed through her work at the Georgia Department of Education and Clayton County Public Schools as a School Effectiveness Specialist at the Georgia Department of Education and as a K-12 Academic Coordinator for Clayton County Public Schools. These experiences equipped her with a deep understanding of instructional best practices, school improvement strategies, and the impact of local, state, and federal policy on school operations.
Ms. Henry earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Spelman College, a Master of Education from Strayer University, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University.
We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Henry to the principal role at Carver STEAM Academy!
