Thanks to the enormous talent and passion of Atlanta artist and activist Christina Ward, Slater Elementary School students will now enjoy beautiful new murals along their school hallways.
The gorgeous mural features Slater Tigers (both students and mascots!) interacting with different school subjects, including math, literacy, science, botany, agriculture and more. The murals use bright colors and curious, playful imagery to engage and inspire Slater’s students.
COR, a non-profit organization that partners with Carver STEAM Academy to support students through social-emotional programming, first introduced Ms. Ward to Purpose Built Schools in 2021, when she began painting a series of inspiring murals for Carver STEAM, Thomasville Heights Elementary School and Price Middle School.
“It’s so important for students to see themselves in the art,” said Ms. Ward. “I hope that when they come to school and look at these walls, they will feel a sense of pride in who they are and their ability to achieve their own dreams.”
