Carver STEAM Academy is proud to announce that Brian Akomeah-Sakyi is the Class of 2022 valedictorian and Kyshawn Forbes is salutatorian.
Brian, valedictorian, earned a full scholarship and will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology with plans to major in Computer Science. Born in Accra, Ghana, he migrated to the United States at the age of 13 where he overcame cultural differences.
“I always had my parents and school counselors to encourage and remind me of what I am working towards and that I should not give up,” says Brian.
Brian participated in Next Generation Men & Women, Carver High School Football & Soccer Team, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society and the Beta Club. He also earned the STEAM Academy at Carver Principal’s Award and Honor Roll.
Kyshawn, salutatorian, earned a full scholarship and will be attending Tennessee State University with plans to major in Analytical Science. The first person in his family to go to college, Kyshawn pushes himself to be successful every day. Kyshawn participated in Next Generation Men & Women, the Trio Program, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, and the band (2019).
Kyshawn’s early passion for success, coupled with his promise to his mother to finish high school with honors, has been the driving force behind Kyshawn’s success.
“When I entered high school, I soon realized that there were two paths he could take, but only one would set me on a trajectory of fulfilling the promise I made to my mother,” says Kyshawn, who also earned the STEAM Academy at Carver Principal’s Award and Honor Roll. “I began to actively participate in experiences throughout high school that exposed me to rewarding opportunities, like band. In the band, I learned time management and discipline.”
Congratulations to these outstanding scholars!
