AT&T recently donated 250 refurbished laptops to Atlanta students and families as part of the company’s nationwide commitment to help bridge the digital divide. The laptops, funded by an AT&T donation to Compudopt, will be given to Atlanta residents in need. AT&T is working with Compudopt to provide students and families with COR Inc. with laptops and digital literacy resources to help them fully participate in our digital world.
Located at Carver STEAM Academy, COR is committed to unlocking the potential of underserved, trauma-impacted students by removing non-academic barriers to learning and creating a school-based community to harness the power of prevention.
“At AT&T, we are committed to helping close the digital divide, and we are proud to support COR and equip Carver STEAM Academy students with the technology and resources they need to thrive,” said Riley Blount, Vice President of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Through this collaboration, we are empowering youth in Atlanta with the promise of tomorrow and connecting more Atlantans to greater possibility.”
In addition to helping with laptops, AT&T contributed $25,000 to COR Inc. to support critical programming for Carver STEAM Academy students.
“For our students to succeed in today’s digital world, access to technology and digital resources is essential. It’s how they leverage what they learn in the classroom and explore new skills and career opportunities,” said Andrew Fuller, Principal, Carver STEAM Academy. “We are grateful for AT&T’s collaboration with COR and Compudopt to donate laptops to our students, and we know it will help unlock the unlimited potential of our students.”
These efforts are part of the AT&T Connected Learning initiative, created as part of their company wide commitment to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption.
“Closing the digital equity gap is a priority in our community, and I’m appreciative of AT&T’s collaboration with COR and Compudopt to equip Carver STEAM Academy students with laptops. These devices will be transformative in how students complete homework, develop new job skills and prepare for the future,” said Atlanta City Councilmember Jason Winston. “With AT&T’s donation, we are creating more equitable opportunities for Atlanta youth.”
